It's been a few days since the training day at Shatin College, I've therefore also had some time to evaluate the day.
early on a Thursday morning, two of us even had an exam the very same evening. No-one knew what to expect of this day, also as most up us have never been to 12 Island School students, one of them being myself, and 2 teachers made our way to ShatinShatin College, we were waiting to be astounded by the school itself.
Luckily for us, we had just passed the rush hour traffic and had no trouble getting to the school, we were all placed in a classroom but all sat seperately from the students at Shatin College. This changed soon, as we were told to sit with someone we didn't know at all, our names and introductions to one another were made hastily and we all settled down in our seats awaiting our next task.
Once split into smaller, workable groups, we set about making a question poster like thing. Every group collaborated coherently and we enthusiastically made presentations to the rest of the mentors-in-training group
Finally our researching and collaboration work was put to test when we had to evaluate the performance of a mentor through a Skype conversation. We had already made a checklist for how a good mentor should treat the one who gets mentored. In the end we couldn't make a decision on which video portrayed the best mentor but agreed on which video portrayed the worst in relation to our criteria.
The training day ended with quite a success and all of us had enjoyed the experience. Not only was the day not as we had initially expected but, in fact, turned out better and more practical then we had all thought it would.
